Christmas in Disney Part III: Animal Kindgom

We got to Animal Kingdom at opening on Monday.

Mom and Dad took the kids while the rest of us sprinted to ride Everest on the other side of the park. We wanted to get to it before the lines got too long. That ended up being the right call...there was only a 5 minute wait. We started running through the line cheering and other people around us even started cheering, too. (Disney should hire us to spread the magic. Or just let us into their parks for free.) When we got off, the wait was still 5 minutes. So we went again.

We made our way back to Mom, Dad, and the kids who were on the other side of the park.

Nonnie and Grandpa had gotten their grandkids the cutest Disney hats:

Cutest. Ever. And amazingly enough, they would actually keep the hats on! (Also, I love how Tanner's hands are casually in his pockets in the above picture.)

Nonnie and Grandpa had been taking the kids on a little dino ride while they were waiting for us. They went another time while the rest of us rode a kid coaster.

Next, we took the kids over to the playground.

Halston, Dad, Josh, Lindsey, Nick, and I stayed behind with the kids at the playground while the other half of the group went to ride Dinosaur.

When the first group got back, the rest of us went and took our turn on Dinosaur. It was pretty awesome.

Sometimes Kenz would be kind enough to share her hat. Also, it was so nice to have extra hands to help with the kids!

Here are my boys waiting to get into the Bug's Life Show with a photobomb by Lindsey.

One of the greatest rides in Animal Kingdom is Kilimanjaro Safaris. You get to see dozens of African animals and they are not in cages. They use natural barriers to keep the animals from you. Some of the non-dangerous ones can even come right up to the tram!

The kids also got to experience their first parade at Animal Kingdom. They were big fans. If you stuck your hand out, some of the characters would come and give you a five. Kenz loved that. Lots of the characters spotted Chandler in the crowd and would wave to him from the floats, too.

We checked out the Finding Nemo show. I was expecting it to be super geared toward little kids, but it was actually awesome!

And we did Kali River Rapids. So awesome that in Florida it was nice enough out that we could do a water ride and not freeze (though we did bust out the ponchos anyway. But they only did so much...)! Also, this picture just has Mom, Riley, Nick, and Kenzie. Once again, we did this ride in shifts.

.Since we had done everything we wanted, we left a little bit before clothes and headed home.
