He is still our big boy! At his 14 month appointment, he measured in the 80th percentile for both weight and height.
He's remained a great sleeper. We usually put him to bed around 8 and he's up between 7 and 8. There's a noticeable difference in his easiness/mood the next day if we deviate from the schedule. He only takes one nap now, but it's usually 3 hours long, so that's pretty great.
Mealtimes are pretty frustrating. Chandler has become tremendously picky. He is very hesitant towards anything new; he'll just shake his head and close his mouth and whine. Much of the time, he'll even do this with food we know he likes and we have to sneak it into his mouth to remind him he likes it before he'll eat it. The list of things he'll eat is growing shorter and shorter. He loves rice, and his staples are yogurt, oatmeal, waffles, and.....baby food. Still. We realize he's super old for it, but we cannot get him to eat regular fruits and vegetables (besides a banana now and again). So we figure even if it's pureed, at least he's still getting it. He is also a juice machine. He just wants to chug juice all. the. time.
Chandler's learning has skyrocketed over the last few months! The "Your Baby Can Read" videos have really paid off. At around 13 months, he could "read" (I put it in quotations because I know he's not technically reading so much as memorizing) 3 words. Within a few months, that jumped to about 30. Josh also found some alphabet videos that we started showing to him. Now at 17 months, he can recognize all the letters and can say the alphabet with just a little bit of help. And he loooooooves it. When he gets up in the morning but before we've gone to get him out of his crib, we usually hear him shouting out letters. We got him the refrigerator magnet letters and one of his favorite activities is to take them on and off while shouting out what letter he's holding or running up to show it to us. Josh says letters are like celebrities to him now, and he's so right. Whenever we drive along or somewhere and he sees letters on signs, stores, etc he gets so excited at the sighting. "R! ! ! R! ! ! Mama, R! ! !" Chandler has also learned to recognize his numbers and can count 1 - 10. He probably has about 100 words in his vocabulary and can repeat words really well.
Chandler still enjoys music and singing. He'll do the hand motions with us to songs like "Itsy Bitsy Spider" (he LOVES the part where you "wash the spider out"), "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes", "If You're Happy and You Know It", and "Book of Mormon Stories". He is getting to the point where he can sing the last word in each line in many songs, like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "I Am a Child of God".
Aside from "Your Baby Can Read", he wasn't too interested in movies for a long time. But now he has developed an obsession with Finding Nemo. One of the first things he says when he gets up in the morning is "Fishy? Nemo?" A few days ago, my Mom introduced him to Winnie the Pooh at her house, and now he is obsessed with him as well. Whenever we go over there he runs to their TV and says "Bear?" We probably aren't doing the greatest job on limiting him on his TV right now...
He still loves his passie. We are probably going to have to start cutting it back to only having it at night pretty soon, but I think I will hate it more than Chandler will. It's so nice to have a quick go-to to calm him down...
Chandler is super social and LOVES kids. At church, he runs up to all the kids (especially those his age) first chance he gets and gives them big hugs and has the hugest smile. He loves when they chase each other back and forth. He had gotten to go into nursery a few times when they were short on leaders and needed some help. Now he is obsessed...he runs up to the nursery door and stands there and cries to get in. Only 2 more weeks!
Chandler has many favorite activities right now. At the top are obviously letters and playing ball in any form. He still loves to score the ball on the little basketball standard in his room, throw and catch (he's getting pretty good at catching!), or kick the ball around outside and chase it. He also still loves the pool and beach. He's a little difficult to manage at the pool because he is so fearless...he will run right up to the edge or step right in, so you literally have to be watching him every second. And he still gets into EVERYTHING.
He is now forward-facing in his car seat. I love to be able to see his little face, but it's also sad because it is a reminder of how fast he is growing up.

Ultimately, Chandler is the light of our lives. I feel so grateful that I get to spend all day, every day with him (even if it can get exhausting)!
